Shad Movinci

Born Rashad Akil Barnes in Columbia, SC, on October 22, 1977, Shad Movinci spent his childhood years growing up in Schaumburg, IL, a suburb outside of Chicago. He started showing artistic talent at age 6, excelling in art classes & creating comic books for his friends to enjoy. Refinement of his skill set & recognition of his work continued to grow throughout high school, accumulating accolades and notoriety at exhibitions & district-wide shows. Shad then received a scholarship to attend South Carolina State University where he captained the golf team, and received a B.S. in Engineering. However, his passion for art never wavered through those years as he continued to draw, paint, airbrush, design logos & silkscreen apparel for the community of students attending the university. After school, Shad flourished immediately as a professional engineer while continuing to feed his creative passion beginning to create portraits of family members and figures of admiration. This combination of artistic & technical aptitudes led to development of entrepreneurial endeavors which include the creation of the cultural conglomerate Grūv Artifacts, LLC containing brands like Shad Movinci Art , Baby Golfer Books, & Grūv Apparel that focus on fine art, literature, and lifestyle apparel. Shad now lives in Palm Beach Gardens, FL with his gorgeous & radiant wife Maria Del Carmen Martinez of Bayamon, PR and amazing son Andrés Zaire (AZ) Barnes.
